Welcome to the web site home of the family of Thomas Jefferson "Bud" and Lillie Bell (Jones) Rose.  Bud was born December 6, 1869 in Dallas County, Missouri to Andrew V. and Lydia Jane (Moreland) Rose.  Lillie was born July 1, 1877 in San Saba County, TX to Jehu and Julia (Hutton) Jones.  Bud and Lillie met in or near Sunset, Wise or Montague County, Texas when both families were tenant farmers (sometime referred to as sharecroppers). They were married October 13, 1895 in Sunset, Texas. Documentatioin of their marriage was destroyed when the courthouse burned.  Seven children were born to this union: Albert, born October 27, 1896 in Wise County, TX and died December 7, 1898 near Sunset in Wise or Montague County, TX; Bearllie Lee, born December 4, 1898 in Sunset, Wise or Montague County, TX; William Oliver, born October 3, 1901 near Richland Springs, San Saba County, TX; Earl Elijah, born February 14, 1904 in San Saba County, TX; Ida Delilah, born May 6, 1907 in McCulloch County, TX; Tula Elizabeth born March 6, 1910 near Richland Springs, San Saba County, TX and Zella Lois, born December 18, 1913 near Richland Springs, San Saba County, TX.

Bud died of consumption May 31, 1914, leaving Lillie with six children ages 15 years to 5 months. He is buried near his younger brother Elijah Rose in the Richland Springs Cemetery in San Saba County, TX. He has no marker. Bud and Lillie's little bouquet of Roses struggled for survival. They moved via covered wagon in 1918 from the San Saba and Brown County areas to northern Montague County, TX.  Lillie died June 12, 1953 in Valley View, north of Nocona, Montague County, TX and is buried in the New Spanish Fort Cemetery, North of Nocona, Montague County, Texas.
